After starting Clean Beauty Co a go-to blog aimed to educate and empower people to make their own beauty products and be more invested in what goes on their skin Elsie and Dominika  launched BYBI in February of 2017.

Having been recognised as natural beauty thought leaders and innovators in the UK, are both trained skincare formulators, have published a book called Clean Beauty, have been mentioned in various leading women’s magazines, and are stocked in a plethora of reputable online stores as well as physical stores like Boots, Harvey Nichols and make up giant Sephora in Australia. In two short years they have taken a once niche segment to the mass market with their 100% natural, vegan, cruelty free skincare products providing transparent and innovative high performance products

BYBI stands for ‘by beauty-insiders’ because Elsie and Dominika use their knowledge and experience as beauty bloggers, formulators and consumers to create great skincare products. They certainly seem to be passionate and love what they do!

Learn about who these two incredible women are and how they got to where they are today.

Hear about two friends that have created a successful business partnership and learn how they turned something that they were passionate about into a thriving business, doing what they love.  This episode is really interesting, because they talk about some of their massive failures and how they handled it. We talk about how they balance pitching for seed funding, what that is like (which I found really interesting), and how to overcome mental challenges and relationships in running your own business.

Balancing home life with a life that was once just experimenting in their kitchen to running a growing global company must be so full on.

Keep listening to hear an inspiring and insightful perspective from two entrepreneurs who aspire to continue to attract female talent and become the worlds leading sustainable skincare brand – you won’t want to miss this episode.

SHOW NOTES:

Two sustainable (fashion) brands Elsie and Dominika use:

  1. Depop - Elsie tries not to buy anything new, so uses depop all the time. I also sell some clothes on this app too…

  2. Onloan - a clothes rental company that sends you three pieces a month. I offers modern everyday workwear by mid-range designers. You can use the code BYBI25 to get £25 off your first order!

Two tips when looking for good beauty products:

  1. Understand your skin. There’s no point in buying products if you don’t know what your skin actually needs. Sometimes natural isn’t always good for certain skin problems. Lots of natural skincare brands use essential oil, which isn’t actually the best for some skin issues like eczema or rosecea. There’s a wealth of information out there about ingredients and what they can achieve for different skin needs.

  2. Use brands that are transparent. Telling you what they use, where it’s sourced etc. Dominika goes more in depth on this so be sure to listen to the whole podcast.
