Until not long ago, I never really appreciated all that my mother sacrificed and did so that I could have a good and somewhat privileged life where I was never hungry or cold.
She's always worked hard, is always generous and kind to people and now wants for little. But on this one day (it should be everyday) we can show them that we do appreciate and love our mums.
If my mother is anything to go by, I'm going to assume that your mum is just as hard to buy for. So I came up with some cool gift ideas of products that I love to share with you.
1. Cool Coffee Gear
(For Cool Mum's - and also Next Day Delivery!)
Double Wall Cafe Press (£140) is beautiful, great quality, really easy to use and perfect for busy mums and weekend mornings. It's not cheap but I love all of Hario's olive wood range. It's stylish and a bit more special than your run-of-the-mill department store plastic ones.
Buono Electric Kettle (£160) - This is one of Hario's latest products that I'm in love with (see my recent review on this product if you want a little more info on it). There aren't many good products like this in the market, so for the more involved coffee-loving mum, I think she'd really love this. It's temperature controlled function serves really well for tea too - if they're into teas.
Copper Gift Set (£250 - bundle saves 10%) - This is just sleek and sexy. If your mum is stylish and has a great kitchen, then she should make coffee with this set. Have a look through Hario.co.uk site for other gift sets which are made from glass and ceramic and range from only £20 - £45. They are slightly cheaper than the copper range and great value too.
Asian Teapot (£30) - I just think this is cute (and affordable). I know it's not coffee but it's simple and you could buy her a fancy tea so that she can relax in the evenings and think about what an amazing child she has raised while smelling a rose-infused tea from Venus. Click HERE
There's loads of other great things to get Mum on the Hario website and they do NEXT DAY DELIVERY! Hario.co.uk
2. Brunch Vouchers
(plus FREE coffee on "TGITC")
The Black Penny: I often have meetings in Covent Garden so I pop in regularly. They have their own tasty bespoke blend by The Roastery Department and they have a mean brunch menu (Click here for a preview). I personally know the owner/head chef, having previously worked closely together and I can honestly say the food there is top notch. You can purchase vouchers by email and if you mention "TGITC", you can grab a free coffee to drink on me when you pick up your voucher! Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Curators Coffee: These guys have three great cafes; one conveniently located near Oxford Circus, The City and their new cafe in Camden Town (Click here for locations). Always with a wide selection of brews and yummy baking to choose from, their brunches and cleanly designed cafes will make Mum's trip into town special. You can purchase vouchers from their stores.
Just hope she takes you with her...
Mac Lipstick (£16.50): As you know I LOVE a great lippy because it can really pick your spirits up on any day. I find the MAC lippys really protective and practical. For those guys out there, who have no idea what colour their mum's might like, I've chosen some appropriately named and very easily wearable colours in "Mocha", "Fresh Brew", "Creme in your Coffee". (click colour names & pics above for Links)
Body Scrub (£14.95): I found these coffee scrubs in the SkinStore by Bean Body. It's quite a cute present. I not only LOVE coconut oil in everything but these are vegan, paraben-free, contain Vitamin E (great for repairing and restoring skin) and a great way to exfoliate and soften skin with Organic Cacao, Himalayan Pink Rock Salt and Demerara Sugar... I almost want to eat it! Also, it uses Robusta coffee, which makes sense as it has more caffeine than Arabica. Even if your mum doesn't drink coffee, I bet you she'd like this, especially if you love coffee. Peppermint, Mandarin and Vanilla mmmmm.
4. Coffee Table Book/Magazine
1. Getting There (£15.99) - A book of Mentors, by Gillian Zoe Segal (£15.99)- My brother bought this hard cover book for me not long ago and I love it, it's suitable for all ages and really interesting and inspiring. Segal interviews about thirty leaders in diverse fields who share their "pearls" of wisdom from their experiences of navigating the "rocky road to success". The bright orange tactile cover will also look great on any coffee table.
2. Lunch Lady (£17)- I was introduced to this magazine by my friends at the Paper Mill Studios last December during our charity collab for Crisis (homeless charity). It's actually a really interesting read and well put together, great for parents! I'm a graphic design university major myself, so I appreciate the layout, design and overall look. The recipes are useful and simple but they also look like they could really impress too. Perfect for new mums too - A great prezzy for Dads to get Mums if your kids are still young and you need to get a present on their behalf! Click HERE
5. Because Mums are STRONG
A great gift for Mums because they are all STRONG women! Even better if they like STRONG COFFEE!
Instead of a bunch of flowers give her a MR Studio x TGITC Collab card.
